LO6 - Be able to reflect upon own music video production work

Deadline: Midnight Friday 6th February

Once you have your completed music video you must evaluate your work. This must take into account your own and others’ views. This means that you must gain feedback on your music video from your desired target audience.

You must use at least 10 screen prints of your music video to support your evaluation. You could also choose to record a directors commentary to present this work.

Consider the following questions: 

  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
  2. What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
  3. How does it compare to your original intentions?

Comment on own television advertisement production work with some appropriate use of subject terminology.
Explain own television advertisement production work with reference to detailed illustrative examples and generally correct use of subject terminology.
Critically evaluate own television advertisement production work in the context of professional practice, with elucidated examples and consistently using subject terminology correctly.


Evaluation Guidance

1.    In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

·        At least 10x still shots analysed from your music video
·        Comparisons with ‘real’/existing texts (images/embedded video to support)
·  Have you followed/challenged forms and conventions for music videos in your genre/band, artist
·       Genre? (Mise en scene (including lighting),location, cinematography (camera angle, movement and position, sound effects and music)
·         Band/artist representations?
·         Music video conventions?  
·         Include references to real media texts that have influenced your productions?


2.    What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
·         How has your audience impacted on your production process?
·         What changes did you make because of the audience feedback?
·         Discuss how you gained continuous audience feedback and this helped you develop your productions as you went along therefore resulting in better quality
·  How did audience feedback help you meet audience expectations/challenge expectations?

3.    How does it compare to your original intentions?
·         Does your production meet your own expectations?
·         Have you kept to your original ideas? If not, what have you changed and why?
·         What would you change?
·         What do you think is successful about your product?
